Scanner drivers for the Microtek ScanMaker i900 are not installed automatically anymore since the release of Windows 10. The provided Microtek drivers do not carry a digital signature for Windows 10 and later and thus, are rejected by Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems.
Please turn off your Microtek scanner and download the software linked below. The download contains the Microtek software "ScanWizard" which includes the required scanner drivers.

Once downloaded, please double-click the file "swpro_7041_eu.exe" what will lead to an extracted folder called "swpro_7041_eu". Inside this folder, please navigate to
swpro_7041_eu\CMS\Disk1
and run the "Setup.exe" inside. This installation needs to be done in a first step. There will be an installation assistant showing up which guides you through the installation. Except for the category of CMYK profiles, you do not need to select profiles during this setup - for CMYK, a profile needs to be selected but it does not matter which one you choose. The selected profile will not effect the driver or the functionality of SilverFast.
In a next step, you navigate back to the folder "swpro_7041_eu" please, and from there to:
swpro_7041_eu\ScanWizard Pro\Disk1
You will find another file called "Setup.exe" here (not the "SetupInf.exe") and this one installs the actual scanner driver. The suggested system reboot at the end of the installation can be skipped. We will reboot the system anyway when moving to the next step.
To resolve the driver installation difficulties, Windows must be started via the native Troubleshoot tool in a way that the signature constraint for the driver installation is switched off.
The easiest way to do this from the running system is to use the key combination Win+R.
In the "Run" window, please enter the following command:
shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00
and confirm the command with OK.
Windows will now restart and offer a number of options. Please select:
When restarting, a window with different startup options appears. Option 7 turns off the driver signature enforcement - simply trigger it by pressing number 7 on your keyboard.
When Windows has booted, turn on the scanner and wait until it has reached its ready state. Ideally, Windows will ask directly if the unsigned drivers should now be installed anyway. This has to be confirmed and the driver is correctly installed.
If the prompt to install the driver does not appear automatically, you can do this via the Windows Device Manager -> right click on the scanner -> "update driver" -> "search automatically".
This procedure also helps with the driver installation for SilverFast 8.
