My Pacific Image Eletronics (PIE), Reflecta, or Microtek Scanner is not found by SilverFast on Windows, although the driver is indicated to be properly installed in the device manager
The reason behind this phenomenon is that Windows doesn't tell SilverFast that there is a scanner available, when we ask for such info.
Windows needs to be forced to update the driver to the one that is already installed.
This seems to be an issue predominantly occuring on Windows 24H2 environments.
You want to
- use the keyboard shortcut WIN+X -> select "Device manager"
- Right-click the entry for your scanner in the "Imaging devices" section -> choose "Update driver"
- -> "Browse my computer"

- -> "Let me pick from a list"

and click -> "Next". - In the list that comes up, select your scanner again, and "Continue" and "Close".
(If there are multiple entries, you want to select one that Windows say has a valid certificate.)
Windows may want to restart, that's fine.
Either right now or after a reboot the scanner can be detected by SilverFast again.
Good success with your efforts!
