Well, if this message comes up, and especially if this is not a new installation, and you area sure an internet connection is given and SRDx / Photoshop can talk through the firewall, then the reason behind this error message is different than what it reads.

You see, actually it does communicate quite fine, but delivers weird data to our license servers, which in turn do not respond.
Hence the message.
This is often an issue occuring only on Microsoft Windows.

How to fix this?
You start the Windows File Explorer (e.g. pressing the keyboard shortcut WIN+X).
Then make sure the "View" options allow to display hidden elements.
This can work differently in the varying versions of Microsoft Windows. An overview is offered here: https://www.maketecheasier.com/display-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows/

Now, go to C:\ProgramData and delete the .X16REF file.
Also, if you see a folder "SRDx Plugin" in C:\ProgramData\LaserSoft Imaging, delete that SRDx folder, too.

Then run the current version of the SRDx for Photoshop Plug-in installer again.
