What to do if there is a problem with SilverFast
There could be various reasons for a crash, and you can attempt some troubleshooting steps on your own to address the issue. Follow these steps:
If you can still access SilverFast
- Switch off the scanner and quit SilverFast (force quit, if necessary).
- Switch the scanner back on and restart SilverFast.
- Repeat the action that led to the crash.
- If it crashes again, we recommend that you reset the software and try if you can still reproduce the problem afterwards. Please do this in the “service” section of the SilverFast welcome screen.
If you can only reach the SilverFast welcome screen
- If the software crashes when you press the start button, please ensure that your scanner is correctly connected and that the latest driver is installed. The scanner must be switched on and ready for use.
- Reset the software and try running the current program.
If you are unable to open SilverFast entirely
- If SilverFast fails to load the welcome screen for access to the service dialog, utilize the support tool provided for this purpose at http://silverfast.com/support-tool.
- Run the tool and reset the preferences.
- If the crash persists, refer to the FAQ for a potential solution. If none is found, submit a help request.
