Windows cannot connect to Internet

Make sure that all Windows updates are fully installed. Incomplete, faulty and pending updates can deactivate required components.

The behavior can be triggered by third-party security software. (e.g. Kaspersky, Norton, Sophos, Bullzip, Bitdefender, ...)

If you use such software, please check the settings there. Or test whether the problem also occurs if you temporarily deactivate the security software.

Check whether the ransomware protection (on some systems also, monitored folder access) of Windows has prevented access to the system. You can find this here:

Windows Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Security -> Virus and threat protection -> Manage ransomware protection (monitored folder access) -> Allow app through monitored folder access -> Add allowed app -> Recently blocked apps.

If SilverFast or a driver component is listed here, add it to the list.
