macOS: SilverFast crashes when clicking "Start" with an Epson Perfection V600 Photo attached
For the Epson Perfection V600 Photo, the "ICA Scanner Driver for Image Capture" needs to be installed along with SilverFast. If this driver is missing, the SilverFast 9 software would permanently crash once you click "Start" on the SilverFast welcome screen.
Once the driver has been installed, followed by a reboot of your Mac, you can add the "V600" to the list of "Printers & Scanners" in macOS "System Settings". From then, SilverFast 9 is going to start properly and be able to capture data from your scanner.
To avoid connection issues not related to the driver, connect your scanner directly to your Mac instead of using a USB hub or docking station.
Using direct adapter plugs or cables converting from USB to USB-C is not an issue in most cases.
